Welcome to the New Law Day Experience!

This year we have refreshed our normal award program to add a spirited debate by leaders from the local Voluntary Bar Associations, which will be moderated by Justice Daniel Couriel.

The 2023 Law Day theme “Cornerstones of Democracy: Civics, Civility, and Collaboration” will receive special attention from these representatives who will use it to debate the merits of this year’s theme!

Join us for Law Day Celebration 2023 on Tuesday, May 2, 2023. This annual celebration will recognize local attorneys and judges within the Second Judicial Circuit, for their outstanding contributions.

Every year in May, Law Week is celebrated with National Law Day events throughout the country. Law Week and Law Day, originally proclaimed by President Eisenhower in 1958, celebrates the justice system and its role in democracy. As part of the national celebration of Law Week, Legal Services of North Florida, the Legal Aid Foundation of Tallahassee, and The Florida State University College of Law will jointly host a Law Day celebration to recognize attorneys and judges for their service in the Second Judicial Circuit.

This year’s program will feature award presentations to judges and recognizes volunteer attorneys from the Second Judicial Circuit for their dedication to providing pro bono legal services to clients who otherwise would not be able to afford legal representation. Volunteer attorneys provide representation to clients for a variety of civil legal issues including family law, housing, public benefits, employment, education and health care.
